Three-Headed Monster

sene.jpgUnless he ends up being a piece in the saliva-inducing Shawn Marion for Rashard Lewis swap, the selection of 20-year-old Senegalese seven-footer Mouhamed Saer Sene (pictured) with the 10th pick in yesterday's NBA draft is absolutely moronic. The Supes already have two young seven-foot center projects on their hands in Bobby "Conan O'Brien" Swift and Johan Petro. But beyond that, General Manager Rick Sund's claim that the Sonics didn't have any pressing needs in the draft is preposterous.

Last year's Ole defense was porous and terrible, and Arkansas swingman Ronnie Brewer would have made perfect sense in addressing that deficiency (Damien Wilkins is nothing more than a serviceable bench player, folks). Anyhoo, Gary Payton's a free agent again, and he's got his ring. Maybe a farewell tour at the Key is in order—for the team and the Glove.
