There's an excellent conversation under way here, where we earlier posted a response from the Emma Goldman Finishing School commune regarding our cover story this week.
Contributors include former commune resident Lisa Herbold, who lived at EGFS with her then-12-year-old daughter. Herbold writes:

I also thought George's piece was mostly positive. Yet, I still think he wanted to portray the model as inappropriate for kids as part of being an unrealistic approach to living. The model doesn't make it inherently lack "tolerance, flexibility and compassion," it really depends on the mix of personalities. Recruitment is done very carefully and slowly.
