Strip Club Referendum On Ballot

The Seattle City Council yesterday approved Referendum 1 for the November ballot. The so-called strip club referendum would wipe out new rules—currently not in effect due to a judge's ruling—that would require the city's strip clubs (all three of them) to keep dancers at least four feet away from patrons and require Wal-Mart-bright lighting. By voting NO in November, voters would shoot down the nanny statist rules proposed by Mayor Greg Nickels and approved by the City Council last December. By voting YES, voters would say it's cool for Seattle to be the laughing stock of major American cities.
