Quiet Supe Candidate

As an informed reader of our blog points out, Tom Vander Ark, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's point man on education, seems to have made the short list this month for the Los Angeles schools superintendent job with very few people in Seattle knowing about it. See this Los Angeles Times piece. Ultimately, Vander Ark lost out to a retired Navy vice admiral named David Brewer. Now that Seattle Superintendent Raj Manhas has bowed out of his job, will Vander Ark apply for the top schools job in his own town? Reached through a spokesperson, he declines to comment.
