Scarecrow's Employee Windstorm Fund
One thing last week's windstorm taught me is what a bubble I live in on Lower Queen Anne. I didn't lose power for a nanosecond, and the worst tragedy to befall my household was not receiving our Sunday New York Times (alas, it arrived Monday morning). Others — most others — had it far, far worse. Scarecrow Video's Jen Koogler calls attention to one of these folks in an e-mail we just received:
"We at Scarecrow Video would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about our fundraising efforts for a member of the Scarecrow family. Early Friday morning, a 130 foot tree fell through the home of Scarecrow Video buyer Mark Steiner, very narrowly missing all inside. All are shaken, certainly, but otherwise well. You can read the harrowing story here. We've put up a special rental section comprised of various films, primarily ones Mark has picked as his favorites over the last few years here at Scarecrow. All proceeds from these rentals will go to help Mark and his family with the rebuilding efforts and whatever comes next. People are also welcome to make donations here at the store or on our website at scarecrow.com (just follow the instructions on our blog). Thank you all, and we hope everyone has made it through the storm and its aftermath safe and sound."
