The Greening of Ballard

Ballard, long one of the city's industrial pillars, has been recognized by Natural Home magazine as one of America's 10 best "eco-neighborhoods." NATURAL HOME MAGAZINE PICKS 'AMERICA'S BEST ECO-NEIGHBORHOODS'

TOPEKA, Kansas, (December 18, 2006) -- The January/February issue of Natural Home magazine features picks for 'America's Best Eco-Neighborhoods'.

Natural Home highlights 10 cities with neighborhoods encouraging the healthy, eco-conscious good life. These burgs boast community involvement; shopping, libraries and schools within a walkable area; public transportation; and locally owned businesses. The 10 are unique for their environmental and/or social programs; parks, green spaces and neighborhood gathering spaces; farmer's markets and community gardens; and alternative-energy programs and green building practices.
