Reader:  Mevima Winn
Age:  20
Occupation:  programmer
Residence:  University District
Bus:  Route 150 to Kent, 8:30 a.m.

Book:  Harpist in the Wind by Patricia A. Mckillip
State of completion:  Halfway through.

Plot summary by Amazon.com:  In the midst of conflict and unrest the Prince of Hed solves the puzzle of his future when he learns to harp the wind, discovers who the shape changers are, and understands his own relationship to Deth, harpist of the wizard Ohm.

Plot summary by Mevima:  "I'm not quite sure.  It's about wizards."

The hook:  "I buy books at the secondhand store, so I don't care what they're about as long as they're fantasy.  I recognized the illustrator [of the cover] from other books that were generally good.  Turns out it's the third in a series that I haven't read.  That’s what happens when you pick up books at the secondhand store."

Critique:  "It's actually not very good."

Afterward:  "I've got another book in my backpack in case I give up on this, but I think I can finish this.  I have to finish all the books in my library."
