Yachtspotting We Will Go

Categories: News

No answer yet on why Jeff Bezos needs seven bathrooms. Or why Bill Gates requires door handles be made to fit his hand. Now comes the real puzzler: How did Paul Allen dock his 414-yacht in little Yap, Mincronesia?

Verrry carefully, I'd guess. We know where Allen's battleship - it has choppers and a sub - was recently, thanks to Yachtspotter.com: Besides Yap, the Octopus followed the sun from Asian ports to Australia, South Africa, Barbados and Bermuda the last four months. Yatchspotter and other yachting Web sites, as noted last week by the Wall Street Journal, give we poor landlubbers a glimpse into the life of the man for whom we built a billion-dollar stadium.

Fortunately, the new yacht-spotting sites have become an annoyance to the rich: "It's a bit disturbing..." said one yacht charter official. "I can see how it might be useful to some people. But I don't think it's very healthy."
