Afternoon Edition: All-Stars in Denver

biden.jpg

Two headlines I haven't seen yet: "Oh, Biden" and "Biden: His Time"

— Speaking of Biden, here's a look at how the all-stars at this week's DNC voted on the Iraq Resolution.

— Good Food News: Busy Be's has opened a new location.

— Sad Sports News: Former Blazer Kevin Ducksworth has died.

— GZA: Not phoning it in yet. See him tonight at Neumo's.

An interesting thought from a reader:

"Once upon a time parties were a convenience of democracy, allowing remote voters without access to a candidate's positions to understand those positions via party association. There were more parties and less media communication, so parties were specific and helpful. Today, the two remaining juggernaut parties are supplanting the democratic process. They exist purely as fund-raising entities who have turned elections into football games between Ds and Rs, and they no longer accurately represent candidates' views for the simple reason that you have to be one or the other with no room for nuance."
