When Seattle Sports Were Good: Dramatic Sonics vs. Blazers Preview, and a John Tesh Remix

Categories: Sports
Much has been written in the last month about the sorry state of local sports (Here, here, and here are just a few examples). And of course, the older we get and the worse things are, the better they used to be. On that note, please enjoy the following YouTube clip of the one NBC's epic preview for Game 5 of the Sonics/Blazers playoff series.

It begins with an image of Mount Hood set against a blue sky, from which the Blazers' logo suddenly emerges. A voiceover states, "Oregon's monumental Mount Hood, symbolic of the power of Portland, the NBA's winningest team.."

After a rundown of the series' drama, we get some stunning graphics and the NBA on NBC's John Tesh-penned theme song (to which the YouTube capturers have added a beat and lyrics.).

The whole thing runs about a minute-and-a-half. Local sports aren't what they used to be, and, neither are national sports broadcasts.
