Dow Sees Larry's Big Money, Raises Him Rock Stars
Yesterday Larry Phillips sent out an I'm-pulling-ahead press release after out-fundraising Dow Constantine in the King County Executive contest last month. Phillips banked $68,000 in new cash donations to Constantine's $45,000. Not to be outdone, the Constantine campaign sent out a release today (below the jump) announcing a star-studded rocktacular at the rejuvenated Crocodile Cafe, April 23.
See, he hangs out with cool people like promoter David Meinert. Meinert will be there Thursday, April 23. Constantine clarifies that the Gregoires have not endorsed him.
Hosts include Krist Novoselic and John Roderick (both of whom grace this Web site but are on their own when it comes to supporting candidates). Kim Thayil will be there, along with Chris Cornell's ex, Susan Silver (who isn't better off without that guy?). Other famous people include Dave Dederer of POTUSA, Showbox general manager Jeff Steichen, musical guest Kristin Ward, and former PI music critic Gene Stout, who doesn't have to worry about pesky things like "conflict of interest" any more.
Constantine earned his hipster cred working as a DJ at KCMU (now KEXP) during law school. Rock stars and their fans aren't usually a demographic known for actually turning up on election day, but Obama changed that last November. So if the momentum is still going, Constantine could cash in.
In related news, Phillips says he will now wear skinny jeans and thinks people should know that Stumptown coffee is awesome because, ya know, it's just so real.
Here's that release:

Joe says:
Even though Dow is definitely the cooler more in touch candidate, what's most important about him is his believe in efficient, smart government. He's the new school politician compared to Larry Phillips' old school big gov bureacratic style. Dow's the man.
