Omari Garrett v. SPD...Advantage SPD

Long-time community activist, James "Omari Tahir" Garrett, notched another entry into his legend today after being arrested in the Central District. Details of the arrest are scant, but according to the King County Jail Registry, Garrett, father to current mayoral candidate Kwame Wyking Garrett, was booked on charges of Harassment, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Obstruction and is currently in custody at King County Jail. As we noted in 2001, the elder Garrett, a former mayoral candidate himself, has a long and colorful history of impassioned community advocacy. In 2001, he was arrested for decking then-mayor Paul Schell with a bullhorn, a charge he vehemently denied. He was later convicted and sentenced to 21 months in prison.
