$25,000 From Anonymous Donor Ensures Tenants Union's Survival

Picture 55.png
A few weeks ago, the Tenants Union of Washington State--which organizes, educates, and advocates for renters--announced that it might have to close its doors, since King County was cutting off the organization's funding. The board gave itself until July 16th to raise $25,000 to keep it going through the end of the year. As of last week, they were at almost $15,000--still nearly $10,000 short. But last night, the group announced on its Facebook page that it had received an anonymous donation of $25,000, to go on top of $17,500 raised up to that point. Thus, the TU survives--at a time when its work is especially needed, as tenants get evicted as their landlords get foreclosed. Congrats to the TU!
