Eric Christensen Accused of Killing, Dismembering Girlfriend Sherry Harlan Because She Was a "Warlock"

Eric Christensen had a history of violence against women before dating Sherry Harlan.

There are no good reasons for killing your girlfriend. But as Gold Bar's Eric Christensen proves, there are certainly bad ones.

According to court documents, Christensen, 40, has told police that when he found out his girlfriend, 35-year-old Sherry Harlan, was talking to another man, he forced her to take a Wiccan blood oath, making her promise she'd end all contact. Christensen says he found a text message from the guy on Harlan's phone shortly thereafter, a transgression that he alleges made her a "'warlock,' literally an evil traitor."

Friends of Sherry Harlan said she worried Christensen would "beat her to a bloody pulp."

Harlan was reported missing on January 5th when she failed to show for work. Two days later, investigators found her burned-out car with partial human remains inside. The rest of Harlan's remains were found later, when an accomplice of Christensen's led police to a number of shallow graves around Snohomish County.

When arrested, Christensen had scratch marks on his arms and leg and a stab wound on his knee. He was also filmed by surveillance video driving Harlan's car and buying cleaning equipment after she was reported missing.

Christensen has prior convictions for assault, sexual abuse and domestic violence. He currently faces charges of first-degree murder, and for coming up with a piss-poor excuse for taking another person's life.

Piss poor defence, or just a way to get insanity on the table? Guess we'll see when the verdict comes out.

I'm sure he's just another loser who was afraid and angry that his girlfriend found a clearly better man. What a bastard.

Honestly, Warlock means liar. So if she lied, this isn't a religious thing. HOWEVER, there is NO WAY I can condone what he did. Obviously way to insecure to deserve her. I am Wiccan so I can tell you this is NOT how we handle break ups as a matter of religion. As a matter of religion we are supposed to say, "Go in peace and peace be with you" and walk away.

"Honestly, Warlock means liar"

In very old english it meant "oathbreaker" which isn't the same thing as "liar. In fact i don't even think the concept of an oath, as it was understood in the saxon world, is one the 21st century Consciousness can grasp. But i think I get your point: if your point is that whatever belief system these two claimed to hold, it wasn't the cause of their sick codependent relationship , and its not what made this guy a murderer.

Another story of yet another stupid savage who is so full of himself that he believes he has the right to slaughter women because he is unhappy and feels emotional pain. I am not one for the death penalty, but the western world should be well beyond this sort of thing by now. We look down our noses at the developing world when we hear stories of men throwing acid in the faces of-- or setting afire-- women. But clearly it happens here as well.

Rob says:

@ iyamchazz
"Witch" is a term that can apply to either males or females, although popular culture only generally applies it to females. "Warlock" comes from the old Welsh waer-loga, meaning "oathbreaker."

@ Sean:
Actually very few Wiccans are "scumbags." Most of us are average citizens who have jobs and friends, pay their bills, love their families, and just happen to be part of a minority religion. Just as there are "scumbags" in any other religion or subculture, so I'm sure we have our share, but most of us are average, decent citizens. Perhaps you might take a minute to educate yourself about what Wicca actually *is*: this vermin is no more exemplary of Wicca than Jim Jones was of Christianity.

@Jim S:

In 1989, 20 years ago, there were 21,500 murders or nonnegligent manslaughters in the U.S.

In 2008, the most recent year with complete statistics, there were 16,272.

Source: FBI Crime Statstics:
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2008/data/table_01.html

In fact, crime rates across the board have been falling for 30 years. The country is safer than its been for at least 50 years, if not ever. Just because more murders get reported doesn't mean more occur.

She had a very infectius laugh, once she started laughing so did everyone else."Its on youtube" I don't belive a word of what he has said about her being wiccan or a worlock. Its completely stupid. Its just his lame excuse for killing her and now he will get to spend the rest of his life in prison thinking about what he did to her. We all miss her. RIP Sherry.

Warlock means an oath breaker, not a liar or a male witch.

Wizard: male witch

@Mugsy He claims to be Wiccan but he does not practice the ways of Wicca. The terrorists and Christians you speak of claim to be certain religions but they do not practice the true ways

@BlingMellowJelly I honestly hope that's sarcasm.

@iyamchazz You probably need to learn the history and terms of Wicca.

@roustabout You also need to do research on the Wiccan religion. The rede states: An it harm none do as ye will. In the sense you are talking about you practice dark magic. Dark magic is not what Wicca is about.

@Dody A Warlock is a person who has broken an oath. Look it up you can even find it on the internet.

Posted On: Friday, Feb. 26 2010 @ 4:49PM
Mugsy says:

Yes, that's my point. If someone does something bad, all of the sudden they "don't practice the true ways". The problem is that no two of you can agree on what the true ways are.

Posted On: Saturday, Feb. 27 2010 @ 4:10PM
Samantha says:

What do you mean no two of us can agree on what the true ways are? I'm sure there are many of us who agree on what the true ways are.

If they do something bad they don't practice the true ways. I don't understand what you are trying to say.

It isn't that they are all of a sudden not following the true ways. He probably wasn't in the first place. That does not give him an excuse to do what he did but a blood oath and killing her was completely against what Wicca is.
