LenDale White Released By Seahawks, Facing Drug Suspension?
The local sports world had a "whatchusay?" moment this morning when it found out that the Seahawks were cutting running back LenDale White.
And then just like that, he's gone.
White was a draft-day steal considering the Seahwaks gave up next to nothing in a trade for him. It was generally assumed he'd flourish, or at least play better, after reuniting with coach Pete Carroll. And White had snuffed his perpetual bugaboo -- a 30-pound flab cummerbund -- by coming into camp looking all slim and sexy.
So why the cut?
General Manager John Schneider's statement that "it became apparent at this time that LenDale was not ready to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks" hinted at something beyond an inability to pick up the blitzer. And a Tweet from NFL reporter Jason LaCanfora confirms the extenuating circumstances, as White is reportedly facing a four game suspension for drug violations.
So long LenWhale. We hardly knew ye.
