Instead, it's that Starbucks isn't training them enough for them to realize the joys of baristi self-actualization! Or something. Just read it.

"Distinctions must be made. Starbucks baristi are noobs. They use 'superauto' machines that require no great coffee knowledge. Thus, their attitudes are going to suck because their company isn't developing their talents -- to the contrary, Starbucks as a corporation wishes anyone with no skills to be a 'barista.'

"Meanwhile, any of the independent roasters/shops in the same city hire young enthusiasts and train them well, and they don't have the attitude showcased above because they really do care about the customer's experience; they're proud of their work.

"On the other hand, they might show a bit of 'tude if customers come in and treat them as if they were as dumb as Starbucks baristi can be.

"I'm not trying to insult Starbucks baristi. I don't need to. Their company has done it for them, by leaving them with no professional upgrade beyond what pushing a button on a superauto can do.

"It's a crying shame."
