Tyler Savage Accused of Murdering Disabled Girl, Then Playing Dungeons & Dragons
Kimmie Daily was riding her bike to a friend's house when she ran into a boy from her neighborhood, Tyler Savage. The Puyallup teen wanted her to go with him into some brambles in the vacant lot across the street. At first, Daily said no. But eventually she agreed to follow Savage into the brush.
At 18 and a rising senior at Emerald Ridge High School, Savage was only two years older than Daily. But that doesn't quite tell the whole story.
Because of a birth defect, Daily had the mental capacity of a fifth-grader. The developmentally disabled girl had only recently participated in the Special Olympics.
Daily followed Savage into the brush, finally stopping at a spot 50 feet from the street but made invisible by tangled vines. After 15 minutes she told him she wanted to go. But according to a confession he offered to police, Savage wasn't about to let that happen.
Kimmie Daily was lured into a secluded area, then strangled and raped.
He would later tell detectives that he grabbed the girl from behind and choked her. When she was no longer moving, Savage stripped Daily in an attempt to make it look like she'd been raped. Then he fondled her breasts and penetrated her dead body.
A tip from a witness marked Savage as the last person to be seen with Daily while she was still alive. When investigators first showed up at his house, he admitted to being with the girl, but denied having anything to do with her disappearance.
A week later, Savage's story changed.
On Monday night, he led police to a spot 100 feet deep into the blackberry bushes. There they found Daily, naked, with her bicycle on top of her body.
Savage reportedly admitted to the murder. Allegedly telling investigators that, after killing Daily, he went to a neighbor's house to play Dungeons & Dragons in order to "forget."
Savage has now been charged with aggravated murder. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
