Whoever decided to donate a handgun and other firearm paraphernalia to the raffle to benefit a Nampa, Idaho, police officer who was shot in the face probably had the best intentions. But still. Guns? For a cop who was shot? Really?

KTVB had the story Tuesday evening.

Apparently the officer (who hasn't been named) was serving a search warrant on December 16 when he was shot in the face. He's expected to recover fully. But the town wanted to make sure his bills were paid.

So they're holding a raffle.

And highlighted as the big items to be raffled are a "Glock Handgun," a "Barrel for a Ruger 10/22 Rifle," and an "AR15 Rifle Accessory."

Glock is actually a sponsor of the event.

Wonderful.

Here's the flier:

We're all for people helping out an injured officer. But raffling off gun parts at an event sponsored by a gun maker for a person injured by a gun seems, what's the word . . . Stupid.
