The Xbox Kinect hackers have been hogging all the spotlight--what with their flying robots, remote avatars, and manboob simulators. But what about the folks working with hardware, not software--the blue-collar nerds of the gaming world? It seems that at least one of them has been busy; the resulting invention of the "XToaster 360" is undoubtedly the coolest mod we've seen in a while. Best of all, it can be yours on eBay for a bid starting at $150.

The XToaster 360 is apparently exactly what it looks like: a regular old four-slot toaster that's been gutted and replaced with all the innards of an Xbox 360. It plays games flawlessly, but it doesn't toast for shit.

It was made by YouTube user ncarouso11, though Seattle Weekly has reached out to the tinkerer for more explanation of who he is and what combination of drugs led to the idea to turn a toaster into a video-game console.

UPDATE: Mr. Toasty's name is Nick Carouso. He's a 20-year-old student at University of Arizona studying mining engineering.

He's got this to say about his work:

I wanted to mod a 360 but didn't want to just make a design in the case so I decided to put the insides in something completely random. My friend and I were walking through Walmart and saw that the toaster looked about the same size as a 360 so I bought it and gutted it. After I finished it I put it on a couple of Xbox360 modding forums and it kind of blew up from there.

Whatever the case, with its blue LED lights and inconspicuous design, it's likely sexier than anything else in your kitchen.
