Police: Estranged Wife and Son Break Into House to Beat Man With Bat and Torque Wrench
Divorces are often messy. Most exes, however, shy away from breaking into the other's house and beating him with bats and tools.
The Herald reports that Lynnwood police have arrested a 53-year-old woman and her 36-year-old son for allegedly sneaking into the house of the woman's estranged husband through a crawlspace that led to his office, and beating him savagely with a bat and a torque wrench.
The victim told police that he was in bed asleep with all the doors and windows locked when he heard a noise and started to get out of bed. He said he felt someone restrain him. Then he was struck in the head several times, according to court papers. The man said he struggled to get out of bed and turned on the light. That's when he said he recognized his attackers.
He said he managed to push them out of his bedroom, lock the door, and call 911. His attackers were able to force open the bedroom door and continue to strike him. One of the blows broke his cell phone as he was talking with dispatchers.
The man was beaten so profusely, doctors say he may lose sight in one eye.
The woman and the son haven't been identified yet. But one can imagine that the incident won't figure fondly in the woman's divorce hearings.
