Wok King Buffet, Kennewick Chinese Food Restaurant, Forced to Pay $531K in Back Wages/Fines to Workers

The owners of Wok King International Buffet in Kennewick owe Hui Zhen Chen $61,754. They owe Nicanor Gonzalez $10,968 and Ambrocio Sachez $12,051. To Chai Lin they owe $26,355, and for Wei Wei He it's $12,684.86.

In all, Wok King's owners owe some $531,000 in back wages and penalties to 41 workers, after a judge ruled that the restaurant had violated federal labor laws.

According to court documents, Wok King employees were paid well below minimum wage and forced to work steady hours of overtime with no bonus pay. Employees worked an average of 63 hours per week. The total owed in back wages is $263,483, which is then roughly doubled with fines and damages to get to the $531,000 mark.
