David Divis, WSP Trooper, Sues Agency, Says it Discriminated Against Him for Being White and Mormon

Now the trooper has sued the egency for discrimination.

The News Tribune reports:

He contends that, among other things, he was treated differently during a disciplinary action and lost advancement opportunities because of what he called the State Patrol's discriminatory practices.

"Defendants took adverse employment action based on plaintiff's race and/or religion," his lawsuit states.

Divis was apparently moving up the ranks at a steady clip until 2008 when an internal-affairs investigation put his advancement on hold, as he was accused of making inappropriate comments about his subordinates and then intimidating them into not reporting the comments.

Divis supposedly said that all the lazy troopers in the WSP are black and that they look like "Aunt Jemima."

Divis' lawyer says that the troopers who complained only did so because he was making them work hard.

Regardless, a trial board heard the allegations against Divis and ruled that he had indeed committed 11 violations and recommended he be given a 20-day suspension.

It's this ruling that DIvis is suing over, saying that he's not racist against black people, but that the WSP is racist against white people, especially if they're Mormon.
