'Mini Piglet' Is Costco's Most Horrid Meat Abomination

• Well, as someone who actually hunts, shoots, butchers, and eats ALL of the meat I eat, this thing is just a bit creepy.  I love pork, don't get me wrong, but if I'm going to eat a baby pig, I'm going to shoot a baby pig, clean it up nice, split it, brine it, give a good dry rub and put it in my smoker at 225 for 8-12 hours.  I love vegetables and eat a very balanced diet, have extremely low cholesterol and I'm pretty sure I can run a 10k as fast or faster than the majority of the folks posting here.  Which correlates to being able to backpack in hunting and backpack out what I kill.  This just looks like a giant, shaped, hot dog, and I believe that The Great Outdoors taught us what is in hot dogs!  It's disturbing that we now shape our meat to look like animals, but most of the people who will buy that thing wouldn't want to have anything to do with a real wild swine, let alone know WHAT to do with it after they managed to kill it.  Pigs are smart, no doubt about it, and this is just one more stupid and sodium-laced way to sell pork by-products.  Give me a beautiful venison loin fresh off the grill or a set of ribs from a wild hog that I killed any day, but this thing can stay on the shelf, or be removed as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, consuming animals, and their byproducts (dairy, eggs) is THE leading cause of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis, etc. Further, it is destroying the planet as we mass produce animals (land clearing, greenhouse gasses, etc.) Oh, why not add that we could feed the world's hungry with all of the grain we feed to animals...just so we can eat the animal. Stop using animals as the "middleman"! We get enough protein from plant sources. Well proven. Go Veg. For your health, the planet, and the animals (who DO suffer tremendously, before and during their slaughter).

If you ever had the priveledge to spend a few moments to know what these animals are like, you may not be so callous. They are just like dogs only cuter and far more intelligent..

If you purchase meat you contribute to animal cruelty, destruction of the environment, pandemics, waste of resources; land, water and grains. We all share the limited resourses on this earth. Those who consume animals are also a major contributor to global starvation. It takes 16 lbs of grain to make 1 lb of beef. That 16 lbs grain could have fed 32 people. Similar comparisons can be done for all animal products. Oh yes, meat and dairy cause humnan disease; the ones that are our biggest killers and use up the majority of our health dollars. This is not a personal choice to eat meat. It affects everyone in a very negative way.

The longest research project ever conducted in history was done by a highly respected Harvard medical scientist. The study observed the diets of westerners who die predominately of heart disease, cancers, diabetes etc etc and compared this to the diets of people in countries that rarely get these diseases. That study determined that these common diseases, our biggest killers, are either directly or indirectly related to our meat diet. Vegans are not only healthier but have more stanimal. Another study compared meat eating athletes to vegan athletes & vegan couch potatoes. The result was that vegans won hands down even though part of their team was made up of couch potatoes. During the Korean War, casualties were autopsied and the hearts of both Korean and Americans were looked at. Remember, these were young men at the height of fitness. These young Americans were already showing signs of heart disease. 

• Vegans actually have a shorter average lifespan than vegetarians.

• Not long ago I wore fur, munched on any animal that walked, swam or crawled and would have told anyone telling me that I was doing something I shouldn't to piss off. Then I learned for myself what cruelty is behind the scenes. A really disgusting reality is the way most animals are treated; except for the few we call pets. Did you know pigs are smarter and cleaner than your dog? They have the intelligence of a 3 yr old child. Some who care for pigs tell me of their wonderful personalities and of the occaissions when their pig saved them from injury. Try the Texas Firemans diet for just awhile. It's fantasic and yes it's vegetarian. Your health will improve and anyone who is overweight will definately lose fat. It really feels good inside to know that I don't contribute to animal cruelty.

• It is just a likeness, no big deal.  I would have to say that all the chemicals that go into processed meats are what make you unhealthy and what the FDA and other governing bodies allow companies to put in and on our food is atrocious.  When I was a young lad hauling spuds there were chemicals that they used for potato blight that would kill you with in the first week of their usage.  They fertilize crops with human waste that is how people are getting sickened by E.coli.  To eat the way man was designed to eat you need meat and vegetables.  It is the chemicals in both that sicken the human population.

• I think we as good Americans, should set a good U.S Christian example, nt feeding our enemy, and being that these tasty little piglet's, seem to be just the right size to share, in the spirit of giving, for our Muslim friends in Iran. I believe, if we all try hard, we can load up a b-52 and drop them all, like confetti, on thanksgiving day, so they can have a nice meal. Napkins included !

Research and understand what you're talking about before you try to tell people what to do.

• Pigs also love bbq ribs. My pig named dinner would do tricks for porkchops. No we never ate him cause he was our pet but he loved meat just like we do.

• There is and never will be anything humane about the raising of animals to for our culinary dilemmas. The whole idea of the humane farm makes absolutely no sense and all it is doing is making the meat taste slightly better for consumers.  how about this food for though: human semen has similar nutritional qualities to eggs, depending on the health of the man of course, why not fry that up, would you feel weird about Chickens - for example harvesting human semen and scrambling it on toast for their Chicks? or for all the Mothers out their - what if a group of cows decided that their Milk just didn't have sufficient calcium in it for their Calves. if you had a child would you let your neighbour breast feed it, or is a complete stranger who is also a COW a much better alternative? before we can decide what is good and bad we must first put ourselves in a position of where we can superimpose and juxtapose our lives and what we eat to the lives of animals, whether they be factory farmed, 'organically farmed' or simply roaming free animals.

• K, first of all this is not the same as an unborn baby chicken that is in basically liquid form in an eggshelll so that comparison is just ridiculous. This is (or was, rather) as baby pig, a MAMMAL with blood flowing through it's veins, a heart beat.. and yes, there is all sorts of wrong, here.  Maybe I'm just one of those people that believe no matter what the mammal, eating an infant/baby/fetus is just sick.  I am not some crazy vegan preacher, I do eat meat but eating a BLT or Hamburger is not the same. I buy from local, humane farmers and ranchers, not stores. Farms that breed and raise their livestock in healthy environments then sedate them and put them down humanely, as adults. They aren't hacking up fetuses or new born mammals and ziplocking them for the Costco Freezer. Some may think this is ok but at the rate this damn Country is going w/ it's nasty ass eating habits and what is now viewed as "acceptable".... our own human babies are probably next.  Isn't there a line somewhere? An invisible line that a compassionate human knows to never cross? And wouldn't this be bordering it? I'm just sayin....
