UPDATE: That didn't take long. Potter was a fugitive for less than 48 hours. He's now been arrested and is on his way back to Seattle to face charges of being a thieving bastard. The Seattle Times has more.

Add a felony warrant to the growing list of troubles awaiting alleged school swindler Silas Potter. The Seattle Times reports that the dapper-suit sporting man is officially a fugitive of justice.

An arrest warrant was issued this morning for Silas Potter Jr., the central figure in the Seattle Public Schools financial scandal, after he failed to appear for arraignment in an alleged scheme to bilk the district out of $250,000.

When we checked in last with Mr. Potter he'd fled Washington state to America's preferred destination of criminals and scofflaws: Florida, where he spoke mostly in third person and blamed everyone but himself for his part in the scandal.

In related news, two other central figures of the Seattle Public Schools scandal did show up to court today. David A. Johnson and Lorrie Kay Sorensen each pleaded not guilty to charges of felony theft.

The three defendants are accused of stealing loads of money from SPS' small-business program, by using a dummy non-profit company to bill the school district for work that was never done.

The scandal saw SPS Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson step down and a wide-ranging audit by the state.

Anyone who sees Mr. Potter is urged to escort him back to court, preferably by the ear.

Actually, don't do that. Just call the cops.
