Raffaele Sollecito, Amanda Knox's Ex-Boyfriend, Signs Book Deal: Here Are Ten Questions It Better Answer

•  Curly, I can't think of one person who would think to turn their phone off so they can't be traced by GPS. And even if they had, they were turned off at Sollecito's place as they were never picked up by a tower near the cottage. So much for the idea that they didn't think about it until at the murder site. As for Knox blaming Lumumba... I do believe this is clearly explained by Amanda as police misinterpreting her text message to Lumumba and then coercing her to go along with the details they were forcing on her. Even her 'interpreter' admitted to convincing Amanda she was suppressing memories due to shock and stress. Combined with the police lying to her about having solid forensic evidence of her being at the scene, it's not surprising she went along with it. Of course, the guilters never want to address her written statements just hours later where she essentially recants what was in the police prepared signed statement. And Bedelia, neither of them were in the habit of murdering people either but you seem to have no problem with that.

• I've yet to hear anyone say they think Rudy Guede is innocent. There are people who believe that all three were there and involved in the events that night, hereafter called "guilters". Then there are people who would like to have only one person take responsibility for everything, hereafter called "supporters". The "supporters" pretend that the "guilters" think Rudy Guede is innocent. They do not. As a proud "guilter" I can say that the clean-up and staging was meant to leave the impression that this was a crime committed by a single black man who broke into a window. So far, the defense has not managed to show that anyone can actually climb in the window that Rudy was said to have climbed in. You'd think if they are paying for a million dollar defense, they could have found someone who actually could climb up that window to prove that the break-in was real.

• Ebony, just because you say so doesn't make it so. The media has garbled the evidence by interviewing the family of the accused so many times and allowing them to spout their own lies as evidence. There was a complete profile of Raffaele on the bra clasp. It was not LCN DNA. The only LCN DNA in the case was Meredith's, found on the knife in Raffaele's apartment. It was LCN DNA because the knife had been cleaned, Raffaele's apartment smelled of bleach and the DNA was found in a groove of the knife. When told in prison that Meredith's DNA had been found on a knife in his kitchen, Raffaele responded by telling a lie about playfully pricking Meredith with the knife while he was cooking dinner for her at his apartment. But Meredith had never been to his apartment. Why would he make up this story? The bare bloody footprint matches Raffaelle's footprint. Guede's bloody shoeprints go straight out the door. There is a photoshopped version of the bathmat print made to match Guede's footprint floating around out there. This tells one something about the honesty of Raffaele's and Amanda's supporters. Michael - "People shed hundreds of millions of DNA cells daily" I think you've got it wrong. People shed hundreds of  millions of DEAD skin cells daily. This is normal exfoliation of the skin. However, there is no DNA contained in dead skin cells. DNA is only contained in live skin cells, and bodily fluids such as blood, saliva, sweat, etc. Live skin cells need significant pressure to rub off a small amount. The entire apartment was tested for DNA and the only other trace of Raffaele Sollecito's DNA was found on a cigarette butt in the kitchen. By law, if you can't prove exactly how the contamination happened, then it didn't. The DNA was found on the clasp. The burden of proof is on the defense to prove how it got there. I see that neither of you has addressed the issue of Raffaele's lies.

• In retrospect Ebony, they probably wish they had left the phones on at Raffaele's place. Then they wouldn't have to answer any of those "pesky" questions asking why they turned them off when neither one of them was in the habit of doing so. A habit with teenagers is to leave their phones on, but on vibrate. If the phone is close by, they can always check it if they want and it doesn't interrupt anything.

• "ebony", be honest,  you do intend disrespect by making insulting comments instead of just sticking to the issue you also assume criminals plan crimes perfectly which is unrealistic.  you also assume they planned the murder ahead of time at sollecitos.    the idea to commit murder probably happened at the murder site, after drugs/alcohol had their effect combined with the the influence of guede driving knox and sollecito. you also failed to address the issue of why knox blamed lumumba, and why she would have "coincidentally" picked a black man when the real killer was also black.    

• Bedelia, good comment except the following; there was barely any DNA from Raffaele on the clasp, and it was there along with at least three other males; the entire house was not sealed off, let alone Meredith's bedroom; the footprint on the bathmat was not Raffaele's. But other than that, I think you've almost got this nailed.

•  curly, if they were concerned about police tracing their location they could have simply left the phones at Raffaele's place. No disrespect intended but this is the kind of knee-jerk theory so often made in this case that suggests a lack of critical thinking. emerald, are you aware that Amanda was lied to by the police about what Raffaele was saying. If you read her memorandums, she clearly states she doesn't know why Raffaele would be lying about her, and then even questions if he is (i.e., she suspected the police were lying to her about Raffaele).

• phones turned off because they were worried the police could use the phones to trace their location at the time of the murder also knox blamed bar owner lumumba because she knew the killer was black because she was at the scene of the murder but didnt want to accuse the real killer because of fear of retaliation so she picked another black person calculating a witness might have seen a black male leaving the scene and back up her story and throw the police off her tail

• You're right, anyone who has spent time studying the case can answer most of the questions (the ones about how he feels we can't answer yet, - but I will let him decide if he wants to answer them, and respect his choice too). Of course they are all questions that someone with little knowledge of the case might ask, so I will assume Curtis Cartier already has answers and is just telling Raffaele what questions to answer if he wants to be popular with the Daily Mail crowd. It will be interesting to see how much Raffaele (and Amanda too) suffer from an "Abraham Lincoln" approach. Supposedly A. Lincoln's 2nd Inaugural Address shortly before the end of the American Civil war was not well received (aren't many still alive from then, so I guess we'll never know for sure). Folks were hoping he would disparage those evil traitors, but instead he finished with a request "to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations". I suspect many will feel that Raffaele does not spend enough time bashing the prosecution and concentrates too much on positive things (like the support he received). His book might be more popular amongst readers of The Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor than those who read the Daily Mail. I respect both Raffaele and Amanda and am looking forward to hearing what they have to say - and I certainly have no desire to tell them how to write their books

• I'm a bit confused as to why anyone would think that turning off a cell phone is suspicious (question 1).  Mine is at home turned off - and I am definitely not a criminal!  I'm certainly not a high-powered detective (like were obviously used at the start of this case), but I think they were planning on watching a movie, then spending some time together (probably studying Italian grammar, that's what I always did with my girlfriends alone!).  If you want time alone not being disturbed turning off your phone is natural (saves battery life, and turning back on is not too hard)- I just wish more folks would do it at work during meetings!  When you don't want to be disturbed turn it off, then turn it on again when you want to use it.      I'm a lot more interested in having Raffaele answer Guests questions - at least they're woth knowing!

• Raffaele did communicate with Amanda from prison...can you see why they did. And many people turn off their cell phones when going to sleep or maybe wanting no interruptions! That is not a sign of any guilt. The bigger issues should address some of the details of his time in prison, some of his feelings about Amanda. Because in the beginning Amanda did not think Raffaele was telling the truth about her...it's still confusing about her story, did she go out that night or not? Or did she stay the entire night with him? She would have smoked alot to be confused about that evening..

• You're right about no justice for Meredith, though.  Rudy Guede getting 16 years for rape and murder is disgusting. 

• I've read the reports.  They're what convinced me that Amanda and Raffaelle are innocent.

• He's got a point, though.  Rudy Guede's DNA was found in the room, on Meredith's clothes, IN her, on her purse.  His footprint is in the bathroom.  He has a prior history of breaking and entering (through a second story window).  When one homeowner caught him, Rudy threatened him with a switchblade.  He was known to bother girls and not take no for an answer.  He was seen on the garage camera going toward the cottage (ALONE) a little before 9 that night, before Meredith got there.  And yet people think he's innocent.  Why?

• Bedilia: When the appellate court judge issues his court's "memorial" in January which will trace the evidence presented in his courtroom, you may find that the issues you raise are answered. Take the victim's bra clasp which had the DNA of a number of people on it. People shed hundreds of millions of DNA cells daily. Raffaelle was in the house 5 or so times that week when he visited Amanda and cooked lunch for her and Meredith, the victim. After Raffaelle called the police to the house when Amanda found increasing evidence that something was wrong, Raffaelle tried to shove and slam open Meredith's locked bedroom door while the postal police, the first authorities to arrive, stood by idlely as they did not want to be blamed for a damaged door. Rafaelle'act of slamming his shoulders or body into the locked door would have shed millions of his microscopic DNA cells to the floor at the base of Meredith's door. The police and others who subsequently entered Meredith's room in the coming hours, days, and weeks would have tracked Raffelle's DNA into Meredith's room. That is how Raffaelle's DNA was spread to the floor of Meredith's room where the bra clasp lay and was shoved around by the careless forensic police.

• I was in Perugia during the trial. Where I stayed, the reception on my phone was so bad that the only way I could use it was to go outside and stand in a certain area on the property to make a frickin' phone call. I was told that sometimes you could go to a certain part of the farm house and get reception there, SOMETIMES. The same was with Rafaele's apt. Check it out yourself or find out from someone who lived near him. So, if one phone seems to suddenly be off, the other will be the same. In your title you said, ...".it BETTER answer".  They don't owe you anything.What an arrogant title. Wow. PS. I didn't read past the first question because I already know that you would know the answers if you did your homework.

Dunno about being a rabid supporter, but anyway, I did do my own analysis of the Massei report,  it's here: http://massei-report-analysis.wikispaces.com I find Massei quite improbable if you look closely enough, especially on the mobile phone location evidence (the 22:13 incoming message). I haven't bothered with looking at Micheli, I'm assuming that was superseded by Massei. Apart from the Knife and Bra clasp DNA evidence, the evidence was always weak. Once those were found unreliable by independent court-appointed experts, and Curatolo was discredited, there was very little left of the prosecution case. Eventually Mignini was reduced to arguing guilt on the basis of Knox and Sollecito looking away when gruesome pictures of Kercher's body were shown in open court. I think that shows he really had little left. That said, I'm not completely clear what the eventual prosecution case was at the appeal. The time of death seems to have wandered about all over the place. Perhaps that will become clearer when Hellmann releases his report.

• 11. Why did Amanda have a tell-tale hole in her jumper when she left the court on October 3rd?   12. The PM is said by some to have been picking his ear canal just before his closing arguments. How did this make you feel?   13. Who knitted your fingerless mitts?   14. What happened to the 30 pieces of silver that PS got for the deal with the Plod?   15. How often did you shower in prison?   16. Amanda was crying after Judge Hellmann read the verdicts. Why weren't you crying too?   17. Was it Gogerty/Marriott who advised you to ditch the specs?   18. If given the choice, would you rather spend a week watching Wimbledon or World Cup Football?   19. Have you finally gotten rid of that awful yellow scarf?   20. Having seen the evidence collection videos, would you agree that Italy is teaching the world how to do forensics?   Heh. Let's see him squirm his way out of that lot.

• Regarding # 3, abundant amounts of Raffaele's DNA was found on Meredith Kercher's bra clasp (the one that was cut off). The clasp was in Meredith's Kercher's locked bedroom. The bare footprint bloodstain found on the bathmat matched Raffaele's foot. Rafaele's stories were completely inconsistent; he even admitted to making up what he had first told the police.

• Good to see that not all in Seattle believe AK is a complete innocent!  When I see the posts from her Seattle supporters they almost always spew hatred and vitriol at anyone who questions her absolute innocence.  When I ask these rabid supporters if they have heard of the Massei report or the Micheli report  -- the answer is almost always no, while proclaiming there was "no evidence at all against AK."   Really now? AK supporters live in an alternate universe.  But if you had bothered to seek the 'other side of the story' you could find it.  There my never be "True Justice for Meredith Kercher' but there is  significant evidence against AK and RS.
