Average Techie In Greater Seattle Now Makes More Than $90,000
Still want to major in anthropology? TechFlash reports today that the average tech worker in the greater Seattle area is now hauling in a cool $90,362 a year, up 5 percent from last year. On top of that, one in every three tech professionals in the city say they've pocketed a bonus, which in 2011, was close to $10,000.![]()
Demand is high, with some 2,500 job openings for tech jobs posted on any given day in the Seattle area. The postings have grown each month for the past two years.
"The survey bolsters earlier reports," writes TechFlash, "about tech hiring. We already know that software engineers and other tech workers are in big demand, with companies like Facebook, Google, eBay and Zynga setting up shop here to tap into our talent pool."
Smaller tech-propelled firms have opened offices here as well, including GreenButton, Rhiza Labs and The Climate Corporation.
According to TechFlash, tech professionals nationally have on average realized salary gains of more than 2 percent last year, bringing their annual wage to $81,327.
