Microsoft GPS Devices To Come With 'Avoid Ghetto' Feature
They think of everything over there in Redmond. Must be something in Microsoft's water coolers. Just when you thought you had every possible gadget necessary to live a happy and productive life, the software giant comes out with an "avoid ghetto" feature for your GPS device. Indeed, Christmas has really come early. 
Microsoft was recently granted a patent which states that a route can be plotted for pedestrian to avoid an "unsafe neighborhood or being in an open area that is subject to harsh temperatures."
The handy-dandy device (don't leave home without it) has been created for your mobile phone and taps into the most updated crime statistics and weather data, which you can use when deciding, say, where to dine this evening or whether to take the kiddies to Disney World or East St. Louis for a weekend jaunt.
So, now that there's technology available to steer clear of a ghetto, what could be on the horizon? Perhaps a patent for an app that allows you to avoid software engineers.
