Defecating Mailman Back On the Job; Here's Hoping He Doesn't Make Anymore Special Deliveries
This may seem a bit far afield, but heck, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, so we're all in the need of cheering up. Which brings us to the poopy mailman who dropped off a very unexpected package at a Portland, Ore., home back in April 2011. Well, the defecating mail carrier was back on the job today. Same route, too, we s... you not. ![]()

The unidentified postal worker was caught on camera squatting in the bushes near Patricia Yamal's southeast Portland home. A neighbor, Don Derfler, took pictures from his own home.
Derfler told reporters at the time, "He started pulling his pants down and started defecating. At that point, I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures. This is how they respect our property? It's just not right, and it's also a biohazard."
The mailman was suspended and placed on unpaid leave -- and mighty embarrassed, co-workers said. And of course, the U.S. Postal Service apologized.
Said Ross Anderson of the USPS: "For the years that I've worked for the Postal Service, I've never heard of an incident like this and I hope I never do again."
Derfler's neighbor, only known by his first name Dennis, added: "Nature calls at inopportune times, but jeez, go back to your rig and find a gas station for crying out loud."
Here's Derfler recalling the day the mailman dropped a nasty in his neighbor's bushes.
Yamal tells KATU News in Portland that she was shocked by the surprise package, but isn't holding a grudge, calling last year's incident a "funny, tragic kind of situation."
