Sensible Washington Says More Cities to Come in Drive for Lowest-Priority Pot Laws

As the Daily Weekly noted in late March, Sensible Washington - a "group of citizens working to end adult cannabis (marijuana) prohibition for responsible adult use in Washington State," according to its website - recently announced plans to file lowest-priority pot prosecution initiatives in six Washington cities with hopes of placing them on general election ballots come November.

Seven King County Heroin Deaths Not Due to Drug Potency, Public Health Officials Conclude

Despite the warning issued last month in the wake of seven Seattle area needle deaths in a few days, which were followed by seven more deaths this week in the Longview-Kelso area - all 14 attributed to unusually potent or lethally laced heroin - King County officials now say they've found no proof that the seven deaths here were in fact due to a high purity of the drug.

In the words yesterday of that county's coroner, Tim Davidson, "We're finding them with the needle still in their arm or in their hand."And now officials in Vancouver and Portland, south of the Longview-Kelso area, say they're getting reports of "hot" heroin overdoses.
