​State Sen. Pam Roach today demanded that the Department of Social and Health Services turn over all records it has received from Utah police about its investigation of Josh Powell; his missing wife, Susan Cox Powell; and the treatment of his two boys, Charlie and Braden. The Auburn Republican, never one to shy away from the public spotlight, suggests that the agency may have ignored or not acted on warnings West Valley City police provided.

​It's been so pleasant lately. The weather has warmed up a touch, the sun is shining, and for the most part, Sarah Palin has kept her mouth shut -- which, really, is the position God always preferred for her mouth. But, fiddlesticks, the moose skinner from Wasilla is back, going off about how "astonishing" and "nonsensical" it is that Alaska Airlines no longer serves prayer cards with its meals.

​Sen. Patty Murray began the day fully expecting to deliver an eviscerating attack on the Susan G. Komen Foundation for its decision Tuesday to cutoff funds for breast-cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood affiliates. When Komen caved this morning and announced a complete course reversal, Murray, too, needed a course reversal of her own.

​Unable to withstand the escalating backlash over its decision to cut funds for breast cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood affiliates, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has surrendered. "We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives," Komen founder and CEO Nancy Brinker said in a statement released this morning.
