The Most Inappropriate Tattoo Ever?
A debate is raging here at Seattle Weekly over a photograph taken this weekend at The Discovery Channel's Deadliest CatchCon. What side of the fence are you on? Pic after the jump...![]()
Wise choice, my friend.

Wise choice, my friend.
2010 brought a new crop of incredible photographers and photo interns to the Weekly, shoring up an already fantastic stable of talent. To celebrate their hard work, and the amazing images they captured, we've put together a collection of best photos from the year.![]()

Good morning, Anchorage! I mean Seattle. The Daily Weekly is holed up at Neptune Coffee Roasters in Greenwood today. I've got some snow day photos here and I'm guessing you may too. So send 'em in to me at ccartier@seattleweekly.com and if they're good, I'll post up here and make you famous beyond your wildest dreams. Stay warm, folks.
Over the weekend, the Washington State Convention Center was overrun with Pacific Northwest comic book and pop culture fans, gathered for the 8th annual Emerald City ComiCon. I sent a photographer to document the color and pageantry and posted the resulting shots in a slideshow.
But I got something wrong. I messed with SkyMan (seen below). And SkyMan called me out in the following letter.

Renee McMahon Superbad(ass)
The place: Second and Union. The time: about 5 o'clock Monday night. The weather: warm and wet, a gentle rain wafting down on tired evening commuters. And who should I see leading a posse of two-wheeled staff members along the sidewalk by Chase Center? Our new mayor, who first drew my gaze owing to his very formal-looking cycling attire.
"Who rides in a suit while bicycling?" I thought to myself upon first spying the procession. Then, as it drew closer, I wondered, "And who wears a tie on a bike?" Mike McGinn, that's who. And as he rode (lawfully, yes) along the sidewalk, then crossed with the light, helmet perched atop his head, he gave me a smile as I snapped the unfortunately blurry iPhone photo above. So count that as one more campaign promise kept. And one more voter impressed (even if I voted against him, pre-tunnel flip-flop.)

Note to Photo of the Day hopefuls: From now until Thanksgiving, we'll grant unwarranted favor towards any picture that features one of the following: foliage, foliage or foliage. For now though, here's the sign blocking view of Microsoft's first retail store in Scottsdale, AZ. A sign that will come down next week when the store opens.
The Wall Street Journal says don't be so sure the Redmond giant's move to be more like Apple will be a failure (as some are saying): After all, people laughed at Apple too. Please enjoy today's momentary step out of the pool, courtesy of the, what else, Microsoft photostream.
