Caught In A Trap

Tonight's Modest Mouse show should be absolute insanity, what with all those freak-ass Mouse fans crammed into a 1,000-seat venue. You should definitely show up early, though, not just to secure your spot away from the rowdy frat boys who will spill beer on your shoe while singing along with "Trailer Trash", but to see opener Blitzen Trapper. These Portland cats are halfway between askew indie rock and outdoor summer jams. Some tracks veer into fuzzed-out Hendrix-style stompers, other times into mid-70s cruiser jams, and other times into Rocky Mountain Econoline van rockers, whatever that means.
