Vinyl is to Whitney as Exhaling is to Waiting

records.jpg

It's nothing original to wax poetic about the benefits of vinyl vs. tape, disc or mp3 but I've gone without access to a record player for quite sometime. I put off getting a new one for way too long, while the new iYiYi ipod player I got as a gift still languishes  in it's box under the kitchen table.  I will put off opening that, until I can at least work up the nerve to post it on Craigslist, or Ebay (I have an irrational fear of both, or maybe just dealing with wierdos in which case it's not so irrational), and I can also continue to procrastinate getting a new record player for a little longer!  Because my lovely roommate finally found hers, the one we'd lost in the move to our tiny house with no storage. . .

We hooked it up, threw on Neil Young's Harvest and it was like that part in the movie Waiting to Exhale where Whitney Houston's character exhales when she finally meets the man that's right for her.  Just like that. It was like we could finally rest easy, knowing that at any moment, we had the abillity to flip through the big, beautiful squares of album artwork, slip something out of it's sleeve and make it play- in all it's warm, crackle-y glory. We no longer had to depend on the chilly sound of digital renderings. We could finally exhale.

So, if anyone wants an iYiYi let me know!  I figure there are less weridos trolling the SW blogs. . .  right?
