R.I.P. Kurt Vonnegut

• Vonnegut was and still is my hero...When he gave a town hall lecture in Seattle in about 1998, there was a Q and A time after his wonderful lecture. About 5 or six people went to the mic and asked him questions. I really wanted to ask him something but didn\'t have any specific question really in mind--I was so in awe of his genius. Then, I stood up to go to the mic to ask him something..... Right then, Kurt said,\"Well, I guess that will be all then....\" and departed. So, I got very close to having the opportunity to converse with Kurt. However, if he were here I would still have to wrestle with what question to ask him....He was and is the greatest!!! One journalist also had the same prolem when he saw K.V. in front of the U.N. So the guy said, \"What are you doing, Kurt?\" Kurt, puffing away, replied, \"Suicide by tobacco.\"

• I put this Vonny quote up in my bookstore today, \"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.\"

• I miss him already.
