Falling Slowly With the Frames
This week in my column, I told the story of the young woman who was pulled up on stage to accompany Frames frontman Glen Hansard during his encore Monday night. In the age of Youtube, it's not surprising that somebody Memorexed the moment, and I'm very grateful they did.
I just watched the clip, and even though it's understandably shaky (and took an oddly long time to load), it's just about one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Just watching her shake her head with amazement towards the end nearly brought me to tears (again). And thank goodness the girl had the pipes to back up her promises. Way to go, Joy (thanks to Crankleft for the footage):

Thanks for pointing out the video -- When I heard about this I was so sad to have left the Frames early in order to make it to Miranda July.

Joy Prendergast (yeah, the actual girl singin\') :) says:
Words can\'t describe the joy and elation this moment gave me - I\'ve absolutely adored the Frames, was undone by the film Once (so impressed by Glen\'s performance!!), and fell madly in love with this song, playin\' it nonstop for at least a week after goin\' to the cinema (I even purchased it at the concession counter at the Harvard Exit Landmark right after leaving the theatre). When I\'m singing to the CD I actually sing a different harmony, a third part, to compliment both Glen and Marketa\'s parts, which would have been even more amazing for me had Marketa been there, but if that were the case, this NEVER would have happened!! I hope everyone purchases tickets to The Swell Season, the name that Glen and Marketa now play by together, when they\'re here in a couple months!!! They\'ll be at the Moore on November 5th, and I already went to ticketmaster.com to purchase a presale ticket...too bad I didn\'t get in the front row this time, but if I had, I probably would just embarrass myself by waving at Glen and askin\' him if he remembers me or something! hahahaha!! :D Thank you, Hannah, for your gracious and generous words - you ROCK!! :)
