Clicking Up the Charts

If we're more likely to listen to our meta-friend's music recommendations on Facebook, why should we let the recording industry run the music charts?  No more, says iLike, the Seattle-based taste-arbiter that uses communism as it's guiding critical force.  (Weekly writer Karla Starr examined the phenomenon last April.)

iLike and Billboard announced today that they will start creating charts based on the top 25 most added songs to Facebook profiles rather than radio play or record sales.  Expect to see a surge of spam from record labels hoping to get you to knock your sister's new band's first single off your profile in favor of Britney Spears' comeback disaster Gimme More.
