LCD Soundsystem - 45:33
I've seen you jogging through the cold ass morning air with your white headphones on. What are you listening to? Perhaps it's 45:33, LCD Soundsystem's contribution to the Nike+ Original Run series, that until now has only been available on iTunes. Afterall, it was made to workout to, from the warm-up, onto a steady, kicking pace, to a sprint, and on to the cooldown. The CD release of the song comes with some bonus tracks, so those out there still lugging around those cumbersome "portable" CD players have no reason NOT to exercise.
The Hives - Black and White Album
You gotta wonder if garage-minded folks like the White Stripes and the Hives get sick of wearing their signature color/look? Apparently, The Hives still love Black and White so much, they decided to name their album after it. Comes in three unnecessary versions.
Duran Duran - Red Carpet Massacre
When I first saw this, I thought it was a reissue of some long lost Duran Duran album. The cover looks like a product of the late-70s, all dark and red, and blurry. But no, it's the classic new wave band back with a new album rehashing the glory days when an arsenal of synths really sounded futuristic and androgynous, questionably gay pop stars were pin-ups in teen girl mags.
The Killers - Sawdust
The Boss comparison's dominated reviews of the Killers last effort Sam's Town, an odd result for a band that comes from glitzy Las Vegas, not doyty Joysey. Sawdust is a collection of b-sides, covers, unreleased tracks from Hot Fuss and Sam's Town sessions, and one song featuring Lou Reed.
Ghostland Observatory - Live from Austin Texas DVD
Ghostland Observatory is this year's Black Angels. They call Austin home, but response to the energetic dance/rock band outside their own city limits has exploded over the last year, especially 'round these parts. For one, KEXP loves 'em and many of their listeners have flocked to record stores to scoop up Paparazzi Lightning and delete.delete.i.eat.meat. They consistently sell out multiple nights whenever they play in town, so for those who haven't yet seen what this band is all about, you'll get the picture on this DVD.
