Promoting For Promoters Just to Party (?!)

Sing Sing, this Friday's super popular bi-weekly event at the War Room, will be the official after-party spot for the M.I.A. concert happening earlier at Showbox SoDo, and they've taken to the cyber streets to promote the hell out of it and have asked people to RSVP. Since, you know, Hollertronix's Low Budget, also M.I.A.'s backing DJ, will bring the party along with a SUPER SECRET SURPRISE GUEST. Naturally, we don't want to miss the chance to be at what could be the hottest, craziest party of the month of November. So we RSVP, hoping that that it would entitle us entry. We acted fast. We get a response. "We're in!," we think.

Not quite.

From Death of the Party promoters.

"You have to follow these simple instructions to stay [on the guest list]:

1.Make your myspace picture a Sing Sing flyer (see attached).

2. Repost 3 of my myspace bulletins about Sing Sing. (Put one up today, one tomorrow, etc. etc.; waiting til Friday to post all three at the same time does not count).

Everytime you post a bulletin send me an email and you will be on the list for Sing Sing this Friday! This will be crazy packed so I highly suggest following the instructions, otherwise you may not even be able to pay to get in."

I'm sorry, but why should people who simply want to party actually be doing the work of promoters? Do you like being beraded on MySpace with all your friends posting bulletins with the same exact shit up until the very moment the event happens? Would you rather be seen as some flashy online poster to the event, because that's what your quirky MySpace name will be. For the next three days, they will only be known as a faceless nobody behind the Sing Sing event, because that is all you'll see from them. The flyer. The online deets. Times a million.

"Word on the streets" no longer has any meaning, thanks to the internet. Because this RSVP response, even I have managed to find a way to promote the show. But you didn't hear it from me on MySpace.
