Billboard.com and Pitchfork are reporting that Modest Mouse and The National will open R.E.M.'s spring/summer tour. The outing kicks off May 23 at Vancouver, B.C.'s Deer Lake Park. No Seattle date has been announced yet, but we'll keep our eyes open.

R.E.M. releases their new album, Accelerate, on April. 1.
