Neil Young's Toast

horse.jpg

It was no April Fool's Joke. Neil Young has announced he'll be releasing Toast, an album he recorded with Crazy Horse in 2000 , and scrapped all but one song of ("Goin Home") in favor of limp versions later recorded with Booker T & the MGs. Those songs appeared on Are You Passionate. Sigh...

Who knows why Neil does such things, scrapping entire records? But apparently, these sessions with the Horse did not go well at all and barely anything was finished. Even "Goin Home", the song that was released officially, has a ragged cut off after over ten minutes of jamming...it's as if the whole band just gave up and said "fuck it". But this directionless atmosphere, as any Neil and Horse fan knows, often makes for the best Horse material. Alas, can't find a release date for it, so who knows if even this will actually see light-of-day...
