Bumbershoot: Three-Sentence Review of Band of Horses

Band of Horses
Where: Main Stage
When: Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Seeing Band of Horses live was a great reminder that an engaging performance doesn't have to be fast or high-energy. They sounded really, really on, like everything just seemed to fall into place, and the general crowd consensus seemed to be "Whoa... these guys are good." And, even though I can't quite say it's my style, I have to mention the mid-set marriage proposal — she said yes!

That's an interesting take.
I'll give you a take from someone who had only heard a few of their tunes on youtube before going to the mainstage to see them.
Their music is generic. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. After straining for 20 minutes to find something, anything, about their music that would deserve praise I concluded there was nothing. Strumming power chords and blase lyrics. That's Band of Horses.
Of course the performance was consistent. It consistently sucked horse cock. And the lead singer felt the need to continually remind us of what a completely hack jackass he is with cliche rockstar phrasing between numbers followed by his incessant Ric Flair 'Wooo.'
'So I hear Seattle likes to party?! Wooooooo'
After revealing to each other that we all found this performance to be the utter piece of shit that it was, my friends and I all left (thankfully) before this charade ended.
We ended up catching what was to be a much needed refreshing act to wash away those vitriolic memories: Saul Williams.
