Wall Street Journal Embraces Fleet Foxes

Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox, MySpace, and The Wall Street Journal is all about market share and growth markets. As old customers age, new ones must take their place. And while not many local fans of the Fleet Foxes, now one of Sub Pop's breakout bands, read the WSJ, that capitalist annal is reaching down to them. Over the weekend, WSJ music writer Jim Fusilli lauded the band in a long piece on the resurgence of vocal harmony in pop music. He linked Fleet Foxes (along with Starling Electric and Bon Iver) to the tradition of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. Also, he interviewed FF's Robin Pecknold by phone, who explains the group's approach to vocals and it determination not to sound "too Hall & Oatesy."
With nice press like that, in such an unlikely place, maybe the Foxes will score a guest appearance on The Simpsons, another Murdoch-owned property.

JJ says:
I'm sure the Fleet Foxes will be in a Chevy mini-van commercial soon anyhow.
