8 Foo Fighters Songs McCain Should Use Instead of 'My Hero'
Posted Oct. 8, 2008 at 12:28 pm by Chris Kornelis
Foo Fighters joined the ranks of Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart this morning by not-so-discreetly asking Sen. John McCain to stop using their music to rally his troops. The Vietnam Veteran's anthem of choice, it turns out, has been "My Hero."
"The saddest thing about this is that 'My Hero' was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential," Foo Fighters said in a press release. "To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song. We hope that the McCain campaign will do the right thing and stop using our song—and start asking artists' permission in general!"
Today, we'd like to call on the McCain camp to do the right thing as well, and pick a more appropriate Foo Fighters tune on the stump. Here are a few recommendations.
8. “Hey, Johnny Park”
See, they already wrote a song for you.
Everything fades in time, it's true.
7. “Wind Up”
Sen. Temper, if you ever had a theme song, this is it.
Maybe I'll fall behind, but I don't mind because I'll catch up ... Spare me your questions because you know me so well/Someday you'll realize I get shy and choke up.
6. “The Pretender”
Maverick? Please. Straight Talk Express? COME ON!
In time, or so I'm told/I'm just another soul for sale.
5. “Oh, George”
Kinda speaks for itself, doesn't it?
4. “My Poor Brain'
You're right, probably better suited for Gov. Palin.
3. “Exhausted”
Of course you are. YOU'RE OLD!
2. “Alone + Easy Target”
So many members of the liberal media with so much to say. Must be tough. Plus, YOU'RE OLD!
1. “I'll Stick Around”
Gotta hand it to ya, fella, your campaign was left for dead, you championed an extremely unpopular military maneuver in Iraq that's often called “The. Surge.” and now you're one heartbeat away from making Sarah Palin the President of the United States of America.
I've taken all and I've endured/One day it all will fade, I'm sure

Wow, you are SUCH a clever writer.
In fact, that is and example of sarcasm.
Look, why don't you just join the Huffingtonpost.com team and go on your way towards pushing your liberal agenda with all the flair, snide and silly comments, and lies that you so choose.
It's incredible that the vast majority of liberal idiots are simply on the internet spewing their ignorance. This is the type of childish crap that is bringing down your party and ruining any respect that you have.
A better idea is spread honest and unfiltered knowledge, rather than creating cutesy little blogs.
Seriously, I feel like the internet is filled with 10 year old Obama supporters. Where is the integrity?

Blatantly obvious song that he should use....
Asshole by Dennis Leary.
Posted Oct. 8, 2008 at 11:16 pm by Dave from Hong KongOnce again there's that intellectual honesty thing creeping up. They have a problem becuase they don't agree with McCain's politics, but they cowardly wrap it in a "we're just looking out for what's right regarding the music man...it's about the music man".
Intellecutal honesty....try it, you might like it...
Try again Foo Fighters....

Posted Oct. 9, 2008 at 2:41 am by MarkBoth candidates profess to be uniters and not dividers, yet their supporters on both sides of the aisle continue to make personal attacks against all four fine people. It smacks of small-mindedness. Is it really that difficult to argue the issues with facts?
Posted Oct. 9, 2008 at 7:14 am by BobId like to see a remake of the LOW video, with McCain and Obama in the roles of Jack Black and Dave Ghrol.
Haven't seen it yet? It's Great:

Posted Oct. 9, 2008 at 3:07 pm by Chuck#1 Im sure if Obama is elected president, and the band is hit with extremely high taxes, taking a good chunck of the cash, and a windfall tax!.. the'll be changing their tune who the hero is then.
Guys... This is about the future of the world and the human kind. You've wasted the last eight years with Bush (only he and he's friends seem to be better of) so could you now please leave the Hollywood gossip shit and fake religious fundamentalism behind you and focus on the essential.
Posted Oct. 10, 2008 at 8:30 am by MacIt seems to me though that the american people is not interested in that. All they want is to consume and in the mean time they're all shitting their pants for the next terrorist coming around. If you let the extremely rich get only richer (also at you're expense) on the back of millions of people who starve and struggle through daily life, then you will get the bill for that presented : the extreme rich created the terrorist and even made a buck or two in arming him. You are as guilty by allowing them to do so instead of boycotting them. And I should say we... cause I live in Europe and share that responsibility.
So please let us act now. We have to act now before it is too late. Our planet is aching, it's animals are aching, it's people are aching and it's future people, our children will not be able to carry that burden if we do not ACT now. Voting will not make the difference, you should though but also act in daily life. A wise filosopher ever said 'love your neighbour as yourself'. I think he was right. Most of his followers though seem to have forgotten his real message. I'm not such a good person as he seemed to be so my philosophy is : love everyone and everything (plants, animals, the rain...) and if you can't leave it alone.
There is not enough place here to really get into it. And it will be easy to criticize what i write (language errors etc...) but please think about it act. Billions less well off and less educated people all over the world are counting on you and me to set the example of caring for planet earth and all it's inhabitants. thx
