I didn't have time to write up this show for our Oct. 22 issue, but Peter Apfelbaum & New York Hieroglyphics is a must for anyone who's into jazz, world, groove, or creative improvised music of any kind. Apfelbaum is a fantastically gifted player and bandleader, whose group combines intelligence and soul. There's a ton of great musicians in the group, who'll be soloing on tunes that tell the story of their own lives, as sung by Malian vocalist Abdoulaye Diabate. A guaranteed Earshot Festival highlight.

When: 8 p.m. Tonight
Where: Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center (104 17th Ave. So.)
Tickets: $18
