Pieces of this show have been falling together for a while, but it's now on the books that The Dead, Allman Bros., and the Doobie Bros. will be kicking off the Gorge Amp season this year on May 16, sure to be the coldest weekend at the Gorge all year. Seriously, plan like you're going to be sleeping under the snow. Those May nights at the Gorge get freezing.
Much as I'm psyched about this show, and the chance to see Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks swap solos, I'm a bit bummed that this isn't one evening of Sasquatch! How great would it be to sandwich typical Sasquatch! fare with an evening with these dudes? This is actually a good time to remember Sasquatch's granola roots. Anyone else remember Season 1? String Cheese Incident, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson ... It was a great show. And it was cold. And I fell asleep during Cheese.
