Rock The Bells Picks Vancouver over Seattle
This morning, a good chunk of the Rock The Bells line-up was announced and there were a few notable surprises. To get the first one out of the way, there's no local performance. Nothing at the Gorge, nothing at White River Amphitheater, nothing in Seattle proper...nothing. They've forsaken us!! I'm kidding about the last part. But I am curious if the organizers felt like last year's Rock The Bells flopped or didn't hit the numbers they wanted. So I'm going to reach out to my RTB contacts for an answer on why they chose Vancouver instead so stay tuned on that note.
But if you're allowed into Canada and plan to attend this year's premier touring hip-hop festival, then there are plenty of music treats worth checking out. Mainly, the fact that Damien Jr. Gong Marley, K'naan, Slum Village (with Baatin), Common, and Big Boi of OutKast are performing. The full line-up is after the jump.
Nas & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley
The Roots
Common
Big Boi (Outkast)
KRS-One
House of Pain w/ all original members featuring La Coka Nostra
Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli + Hi Tek)
Tech N9ne
RZA (Wu-Tang)
Raekwon (Cuban Linx II)
Sage Francis
Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9," Crooked I)
M.O.P.
Charlie 2na (Jurassic 5)
Necro
Eyedea & Abilities
Evidence
Slum Village (T3, Baatin, Elzhi)
Alchemist
K'naan
Psycho Realm
Mystic Jouneymen (Sunspot Jonez + Lucky I Am)
Mickey Facts
Tabi Bonney
Buckshot
Of course, it should be noted that not every performer who signs on with Rock The Bells does every date on this ten city tour. I'm hoping Vancouver will get K'naan since he's a Canadian citizen...but I'm not holding my breath for KRS-One or Common. Dates and venues will be announced soon.

Sucks they aren't coming to our state this year but I can understand why. It should either be in Seattle or Vancouver. Not the Gorge or White River or any of that shit.
ANYWAYS
The line is up like 65% dope, and the rest is so so. But Nas and Jr. Gong, plus The Roots, Big Boi and K'naan should make it worth it. No local acts though?

The line up looks good! I want to see K'naan and Big Boi. Sucks they won't come to Seattle this year but I bet a lot of people here drive to Vancouver to see this.
