I've Been Listening To... Marina & The Diamonds

marina.jpg
Yes, Regina Spektor's new album Far is lovely. But I'm even more smitten with Marina and the Diamonds' debut The Crown Jewels EP. Marina is a Welsh singer-songwriter that's easy to compare to Spektor or even Kate Nash, given their similar styles—the piano playing, vocal gymnastics, and quirky lyrics. And Marina's lush pop melodies certainly rank up there with her peers'. Case in point: the incredibly charming "I Am Not a Robot."

*By the way, there's no band—it's just a play on the singer's full name: Maria Diamond.
