I've Been Listening To... Marina & The Diamonds

marina.jpg
Yes, Regina Spektor's new album Far is lovely. But I'm even more smitten with Marina and the Diamonds' debut The Crown Jewels EP. Marina is a Welsh singer-songwriter that's easy to compare to Spektor or even Kate Nash, given their similar styles--the piano playing, vocal gymnastics, and quirky lyrics. And Marina's lush pop melodies certainly rank up there with her peers'. Case in point: the incredibly charming "I Am Not a Robot."

*By the way, there's no band--it's just a play on the singer's full name: Maria Diamond.
