For the Record, Michael Jackson Died a Long Time Ago

• uh. Wack jack.. you're entirely missing the point. We still honor Elvis although he stole a lot of his music and never gave credit to the talented musicians from where he got his songs. No one called him out dating and marrying a woman young enough to be his daughter, she was 14 when she met him. We put that aside and chose to honor the gift he gave to American Culture. Jimi Hendrix was a druggie alcoholic, and had his own controversy, same to be said of Kurt Cobain. Yet they too gave something special to the rich tapestry of American music. We should do the same for Michael. I'm not saying ignore his personal life all together, but recognize that all that aside, he truly is a legend. we shouldn't dwell on the personal, because none of us really knew him on that level.

• Yeah I'm quite sure MJ had a hard life because of people like me. It's people like me who don't tolerate injustice, especially when it comes to the helpless like children. It's people like me that have no problem seeing people get what they deserve. Your excuse was he had a bad family and terrible upbringing because he was a child star. Can you think of any other child star, who has had a bad upbringing and say they were brought up on charges, not once but twice for child molestation? That's funny I can't think of one either. Now don't get me wrong, I blame the parents of those children more then I blame him. As far as I'm concerned they should have been brought up on charges as well. And you want to sit in that high and mighty role saying that just because he was different that people turned against him. Please, how about a little realism. The man had who knows how many facial reconstruction surgeries. The fact that he blamed his bleached skin on Vitilgo is ridiculous. Do you know anyone who has had Vitilgo? I do. Your entire body doesn't change skin tones, it starts in patches and works it's way to the rest of the body. In the mid 80's, every time he made an appearance his entire body was a shade or two lighter. You are right though, he is the most recognizable man of our generation. Luckily, the new generation will know him for what he is, a mentally disturbed pedophile.

• I Disagree. Though Michael Jackson's personal life was mired by controversy, I think in the recent years his love for music still lingered. He may have not released the epic albums of his younger years, but his passion for sharing music never died. I think just with the Madison Square Garden performance in 01, the release of Invincible, his production on various album, his constant effort to reach out to younger musicians and give them shine on his own music (marsha ambrosius' Butterflies, his willingness to let will.i.am and others touch his work and put a "hip" spin to it) was a means to remain connected to his fans from the past and most importantly in the present. Regardless of the drama of his personal life, the ARTIST that is Michael Jackson didn't physically die until yesterday.. and his legacy is still alive.

• Wacko jacko, who are you to judge people? MJ had a lot of issues because he grew up with people like you and i idolizing him ever since he was a kid. His family exploited him all the time. I dont know if he has ever done anything with kids, and trust me, I am not trying to defend it if that was the case. But you can not take away his achievements. There was a witch hunt on the man because he was different, its people like you who had him guilty before even knowing anything about the case. From where I stand, MJ is not only a national icon, he IS the most recognizable figure of our generation, his work will live forever no matter what narrow minded people like you say. Let people mourn his passing PLEASE!

• Are you people out of your freakin minds? The man was a pedophile. If you don't know what that means, that means he did not just inappropriate things to children, but illegal things. The second he touched a child (and don't try to give me this BS that he was never convicted, neither was OJ but everyone can now admit he committed murder) he stopped being an icon, singer, music god. He became a sick, demented pervert that should have been executed. You people say how sad it is that Michael Jackson died, I say that God there's one less pervert on this earth.
