Throwback Tuesdays: Bone Thugs N Harmony -- "1st of tha Month"

For the second installment in Throwback Tuesdays this week, I can't help but post one of my favorite Bone Thugs N Harmony songs in honor of Bizzy Bone playing a show tonight at Studio 7. In case you didn't know, he's opening up for B Real, the former lead MC of Cypress Hill. It seems like every writer and blog in town is psyched for B Real's set tonight (maybe it's a West Coast thing) but it really feels like folks are forgetting how much of an impact Bone Thugs had on hip-hop fans across the country. They were one of the first groups to come out of the Midwest to gain national acclaim. And their album, E 1999 Eternal, not only produced a Grammy winning hit in "Tha Crossroads" but it deserves to be recognized as one of the top 100 rap albums of all time.

It's rather fitting that B Real and Bizzy Bone are touring together as the groups they represent had a huge impact on hip-hop culture as a whole. Check out the song above and let me know if you agree.
