YES Drummer Alan White Joins Seattle Symphony on Sunday
My friend Gavin just informed me that prog rock drummer Alan White of Yes fame will be joining the Seattle Symphony, Sunday for a performance of Stravinsky's The Firebird, which Yes fans apparently know from the band's live shows. For those of you craving a little class with your KZOK, it's a night not to be missed.
A few things you may or may not know about Mr. White:
-- He's been with Yes for more than 35 years.
-- He played drums on John Lennon's "Imagine".
-- And on George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord".
-- He wears a self-satisfied grin at all times.
-- He is touring with YES without lead singer Jon Anderson. Benoit David, frontman of a YES cover band is taking his place.
-- He was never told about undershirts.
-- He's not the drummer for Oasis, though a different Alan White did play drums with Oasis for 10 years.
